Another movie from the vaults is Love Actually, a 2003 Christmas-themed romantic comedy which is directed by Richard Curtis and features an ensemble cast, mostly comprising of British actors. The story begins five weeks before Christmas and follows a weekly countdown until Christmas Day. The movie revolves around 9 different characters all entangled in the web of Love. The foremost being David (Hugh Grant), the handsome newly elected British prime minister who falls for a young junior staffer (Martine McCutcheon). The Princess Switch
This movie now has three parts but what stole our heart was definitely the first one! This feel-good, fun-filled romantic movie is definitely not to be missed this holiday season. The plot revolves around a duchess who switches places with an ordinary woman when she finds out that they both are carbon copies of each other. They switch places one week before Christmas and then the story continues with them learning the different lifestyles of each other and eventually falling in love with each other's lovers. This new release on Netflix – Love Hard, just had to be on our list for must-watch Christmas-themed movies. The film is another romantic comedy with twists and fun elements of its own. The story revolves around an LA writer portrayed by Nina Dobrev who gets catfished when she goes to surprise her boyfriend on Christmas, whom she met on a dating app. Once she realizes that she has been catfished, she still tries to get the guy she thought she was dating. However, with time she realizes that love is not perfect, it doesn’t have to be! The story then unravels beautifully with great love lessons. You need to watch this one!
Who doesn’t love Emma Roberts! Not only should this be your reason to watch Holidate but also the other main protagonist, Luke Bracey for his amazing Australian accent. It’s actually a seasonal movie, yet focuses on Thanksgiving and Christmas per se. Both the protagonists, tired of being alone on holidays like Christmas, decide to be each other pretending “Plus-ones' '. However, the story takes a turn when no pretense exists! The whole depiction of being each other’s Holidate on different holidays is definitely a treat to watch.
A Christmas Prince
Directed by Alex Zamm, this movie got quite a fan following ensuring that it returned for sequels. The movie is now available in three parts, having Christmas as its major theme. It is a successful attempt at a feel-good, romantic drama bound to make your winter evenings warm and full of fun. The movie starts a little before Christmas when an aspiring journalist, Amber Moore is sent to Aldovia to cover a press conference. The conference is headed by Prince Richard who is poised to be a king. The press does not take well of Richard and portrays him as an irresponsible playboy who is planning to abdicate. Watch the movie to see how Amber’s big break at Aldovia ends with both of them falling for each other.
