Reliable internet connectivity is a necessity in this day and age. The Internet is an essential tool that ensures access to education, work, and personal growth. AT&T understands the importance of internet access and strives to extend its services to low-income individuals and households. AT&T participates in various government-sponsored low-income internet access programs like ACP and Lifeline and also offers assistance programs like the AT&T Access Program.
Access from AT&T
Access from AT&T offers low-cost internet plans to qualified households in 21 states. AT&T Access plans start as low as $5/mo and offer speeds up to 100 Mbps. Beneficiaries of this program get unlimited data, an in-home Wi-Fi system, free installation, free equipment, and contract-free service.
Applicants who meet the following eligibility criteria can benefit from the AT&T Access Program:
- Have a household income of less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines
- Participant in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- Participant in the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for California residents
- Participant in the National School Lunch Program
Plan | Price | Speed | Data Limit |
---|---|---|---|
Low-Cost Access | $30.00/mo. | Up to 100 Mbps | Unlimited |
Lower Cost Access | $10.00/mo. | Up to 10 Mbps | 1.5 TB* |
Lowest Cost Access | $5.00/mo. | Up to 3 Mbps | 1.5 TB* |
AT&T Internet for Snap Recipients
The AT&T SNAP internet program was a segment of the AT&T Access Program specifically tailored to support households participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). However, it has now merged with Access from AT&T to broaden its range.
AT&T Lifeline Program
The Lifeline program enables AT&T to offer affordable home internet, wireless phone plans, and home phone services to eligible households. This low-income assistance program provides a monthly discount of up to $9.25 to eligible customers and up to $34.25 for subscribers residing on tribal lands. However, as per the FCC rules, a customer can not avail of this discount on all of the following AT&T services simultaneously.
Applicants who meet the following eligibility criteria can benefit from the AT&T Lifeline Program:
- Have a household income of less than 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines
- Enrolled in one of the following programs:
AT&T ACP Program
Affordable Connectivity Program is a low-income assistance program backed by the Federal government. The ACP program offered free and discounted internet services to over 23 million eligible households until April 2024. Although the program was discontinued last month due to the absence of additional funding from Congress, AT&T is playing its role in advocating the renewal of funds for the ACP Program. AT&T continues to offer its Access program and aims to expand its current initiatives to provide affordable internet connectivity to low-income households. AT&T has pledged an additional $3 Billion to reinforce its commitment towards low-income internet initiatives. You can stand with AT&T and sign a petition here to ensure the continuation of AT&T ACP Benefits in your account.
AT&T Free Internet for Low Income
Previously, AT&T offered their 100 Mbps internet plan for free to customers enrolled in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). Unfortunately, since the ACP program is not accepting new applications, AT&T customers can not get access to free internet services for now. However, if ACP resumes, you can follow the following step-by-step guide to access free AT&T internet.
- Check Eligibility: The first step is to confirm your eligibility for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). You can check your eligibility from their official website.
- Contact AT&T: To set up your plan with the ACP benefit, you must contact AT&T directly. They will verify your ACP approval and help you choose the best AT&T low-income internet plan, which may be subscribed for free once the $30 ACP benefit is applied.
