AT&T Internet 75 Plan at A Glance

Data Caps

AT&T’s 75 Mbps internet plan comes with a hard data cap of 1 terabyte (TB). A terabyte of data means that you can use up to 1000 GB of data in a single billing cycle. It is nearly impossible to use 1 TB of data in one month unless you are downloading several folders of raw 4K quality images and videos or downloading around 500 HD movies. For a home with low to medium internet usage, a 1 TB of data cap is equal to unlimited data. So, unless you are frequently performing online activities with massive data consumption, such as hours of video calling, downloading heavy files, or streaming ultra-high definition content, 1 TB of data cap is more than sufficient for you.  

Even if you do exceed the data cap of 1 TB in the same billing cycle, AT&T will automatically add more data to your plan. On the downside, you will have to pay a data overage charge of $10 for every 50 GB of extra data. And AT&T can only add up to 500 GB of additional data in one month. On a positive note, crossing the data cap will not result in service disruption or speed throttling. You can continue to enjoy high-speed and reliable broadband service at home. 

Contract

Many potential subscribers of AT&T Internet 75 assume that they will have to sign an annual contract upon enrollment because there is an offer of promotional pricing for the first 12 months. Yes, AT&T internet plans are available at discounted rates for the first year but it is not compulsory for new subscribers to sign a contract to avail of the benefits. Most users can try out the service for free. AT&T offers a 14-day trial period to its first-time customers and if they decide to cancel the service within this period, AT&T will give them a full refund. 

Since AT&T is a no-contract service, users don’t have to worry about paying an early termination fee. The early termination fee of $180 is only applicable to those customers who agreed to an annual or biennial commitment but canceled the service before the contract expiry date.  

In case of service cancellation, you will be required to return the leased equipment to AT&T. Failure to return the equipment will result in a penalty (equipment non-return fee) of up to $150. 

Additional Costs

Installation

AT&T gives its customers the choice between professional and self-installation. If you are a tech-savvy person and don’t mind a DIY project then you can use the free self-installation kit to set up your AT&T Internet 75. Or you can request expert installation. An AT&T technician will be dispatched to your address and you will be charged $99 for the service. Based on the internet infrastructure in your area, it can take between 30 minutes and 4 hours for your plan to be installed and activated. 

Cost of Equipment

The cost of an advanced modem-router Wi-Fi gateway is included in the monthly internet fee. In most cases, AT&T will ship an ARRIS-made BGW210, BGW320, Pace 5268, NVG599, or NVG589 gateway to your address. You can also use your modem-router gateway as long as it is AT&T-approved and compatible with its speeds.

Most customers don’t need Wi-Fi extenders for optimizing internet speeds throughout their multi-story homes. But if you are experiencing speed fluctuations or throttling, you can rent a Wi-Fi extender from AT&T for an additional $10 per month.

Taxes & Surcharges

The federal and government-imposed taxes and surcharges vary, depending on the customer’s location within the country. In most cases, these charges do not exceed $6 per month.

AT&T Internet 75 Price After 12 Months

AT&T Internet 75 plan costs $55 per month for the first 12 months. In the second year, the price increases to $70 per month, but if you enroll for the AutoPay and paperless billing method, you will get a discount of $5 per month, reducing the monthly fee to $65.

The monthly internet fee includes service tax and the equipment cost of your modem-router Wi-Fi gateway.
